Numis Hires New General Counsel and Company Secretary

Richard Stewart joins from Bank of Montreal, where he was Chief Legal and Compliance Officer for EMEA and Asia as well as Deputy General Counsel

Richard will join Numis’ Executive Committee 
 
LONDON, 17 JANUARY 2022 – Numis is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Stewart as General Counsel and Company Secretary.

Richard joins from Bank of Montreal where he held the role of Chief Legal and Compliance Officer across EMEA and Asia, as well as acting as Deputy General Counsel for the bank. Richard will assume the role as Numis’ Company Secretary from Andrew Holloway, the bank’s Chief Financial Officer.

Richard’s prior roles include Chief Operating Officer for BMO’s Legal and Regulatory Compliance Group. Richard was accountable for leading the operational aspects of Legal and Compliance, including oversight over strategic initiatives, finance, human resources, real estate and BMO's panel of law firms.

Prior to his in-house career, Richard worked at several law firms, including Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner.

Richard will also join the bank’s executive committee and will be based in Numis’ global headquarters in the City of London.
